A very belated posting – but I wrote a children’s book! Suzie and the Eelgrass Geese is a story about eelgrass ecosystems and the process of science. It is BEAUTIFULLY illustrated by the very talented Dr. Allison Simler-Williamson and edited by Carolyn Sotka.
I created this story in honor of the late Dr. Susan Williams who we tragically lost in a car accident in 2018. Susan was a member of my dissertation committee and a wonderful example of a strong woman in coastal science. She is very dearly missed.
Copies of the book are available at lulu.com and only cost $20! All proceeds from the book are donated to the Dr. Susan Lynn Williams Memorial Graduate award to support graduate students studying coastal ecology at UC Davis’ Bodega Marine Laboratory.
